For adoptees interested in knowing their origins.

This program provides advice to those who have been adopted through FANA and are interested in obtaining their personal file or seeking information about their biological family. This program also provides emotional accompaniment during the process.

It is important to clarify that FANA does NOT have these personal records, as by law they were handed over to the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF). ICBF is the only entity authorized to provide this information, therefore, FANA acts only as a process advisor.

WHO CAN REQUEST THIS INFORMATION?

Adoptees over the age of 18 or adoptive parents.

CAN FANA DELIVER

FILES?

No. The files were handed over to the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF). ICBF is the only entity authorized to provide this information.

FANA accompanies and advises the interested party in the process and also provides emotional support during the process.

HOW DOES FANA HELP?

WHAT DOES THE PROCESS INCLUDE IN FANA?

  • Emotional support and accompaniment.

  • Advice on the process of contact with ICBF and delivery of forms.

  • Sending a scanned copy of the personal history (contains administrative and judicial documents about your history and adoption process)

  • ICBF locates the biological family and supports contact if it is permitted by the biological family.
